Public Employers

The unique needs of public employers

Public employers, cities, counties, townships, villages, etc., have the same opportunities to save workers’ compensation premiums as Ohio’s private employers. However, the needs of public employers are unique. CareWorksComp understands and responds to the unique challenges of public employers, helping them minimize their cost of workers’ compensation claims. Our prevention and cost control strategies take in to account the unique circumstances, risk exposures and contractual obligations of each of our public clients. Our team has saved public employers enrolled in a group rating or group retrospective rating program more than $31 million since 2010.

Tailored Programs

We develop tailored programs for sponsoring organizations that include innovative education and marketing programs for both current and prospective participants. Our expertise in group formation provides the optimal number of options to assure the overall group receives the highest discount level.

Once groups are formed and officially filed with the Ohio BWC, CareWorksComp supports participants with industry best claims management services. Effective, proactive claim management is critical in many situations where a participant’s eligibility for the group program may be at risk, or where an employer is attempting to gain eligibility and is faced with a claim.

Claim Representation

CareWorksComp offers claims representation, rating analysis, hearing representation, safety analysis and more to our group rating members.

CareWorksComp is proud that over the past ten years it has retained 97% of the group sponsors who have entrusted CareWorksComp with administering their group programs. Additionally, CareWorksComp has experienced a 63% growth in group rating since 2002, with the closest major competitor at 33%.
